Gift Ideas for Web Developers 2018
The holidays are right around the corner, and you are in need of an awesome gift for that developer in your life. Here are some great choices.
For the workspace
Mechanical keyboard, developers love their mechanical keyboards and can be quite picky, so choose wisely :)
World's Okayest Developer Mug
World's Okayest Developer Mug - $14 - $17
A funny and great gift for any developer. Coffee is the fuel for any developer, and this coffee mug is the perfect reminder that they are the world's okayest developer.
~$30 I got mine at Home Depot, nothing fancy, but looks nice :)
Topo Anti-Fatigue Mats
Topo Anti-Fatigue Mats - $69 - $99
I have this exact one and it's the best. It's nice to mix up the position of my feet, I can stretch my calves, overall it's great.
Spotify Subscription $10/month
We love to listen to music while we code. I am a big fan of the lofi hiphop station on Spotify, helps me stay focused while writing code. When I am not coding, I am using Spotify at the gym, usually via the download option that Spotify Premium gives you, as the gym can have spotty signal at times.
My wife just got these for me for my birthday, and I love them. Comfortable, no cables to mess with, and they sound great. Perfect for coding, working out, or just hanging out listening to a podcast.
Felix Gray Computer Glasses
Felix Gray $95
We, developers, are almost always looking at our laptops and or phones. Felix Gray's filter out blue light, which helps headaches, eye-strain, and sleep disruption.
Dvlpr hoodie $40 - $45
If there is one stereotype of a developer, its the hoodie. I love me a good hoodie. When I get really focused, I have the headphones in, and the hood up. This hoodie is super comfy, very soft inside and out. Very quickly became my everyday hoodie.
An Ergonomic Mouse
Ergonomic mouse $20
I picked this mouse up for myself a couple months back, and it's been a life, err, wrist saver. I have had bouts of RSI in both wrists, and this helps a ton with reducing and protecting against flare ups. Also, it's really inexpensive which is a bonus.
Dank Mono Font
Dank Mono Font £40
"Dank Mono is the coding font you want. Designed for aesthetes with code and Retina displays in mind. Delightful ligatures and an italic variant."
Noise-Cancelling Headphones Price Varies
With all the "cool, hip", open office spaces work places are now having, it's getting harder and harder to stay focused on code. We like to get in the zone and knock out code without being interrupted by how Carol's weekend went. Not only will these block sound, they also show others that you shouldn't be bothered right now. Granted, Carol still might want to tell you her glorious weekend plans, but just leave these on and keep coding in peace.
